Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Ms. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM{Anthony F. Martindale}9/R.31.5.38. B.III & 50 BRAKE SHOES. For the experimental cars now being built, we want eight rolled steel shoes GB.3748 per car, and the price each for 50 is £1-10-0 bought out. This is a ridiculous price. We can make the shoes by welding for half this figure in the Works, and such shoes are quite satisfactory. Welded construction is used by Ford, Lockheed, Citroen, etc., and on B.56.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Will you please instruct welded shoes for the first three cars using steel shoes, and we will investigate the price position. We have held up the order to New Hudson, and now it can be cancelled. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} | ||
