Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} MOT. CT. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 8410. HmW/W27.11.29. Springing - Phantom I. Our recent work on this subject has given us encouraging results. We find from experience that on the weight distribution depends the amount of success we achieve, the best results so far being obtained from Cars with a fair amount of weight in the roof. The most difficult cases are those Cars with light fabric bodies, or with rear seats extending beyond the rear axle to an unusual extent: in these cases pitching at 45 miles an hour and over is still a problem, though we improve the riding up to 35 miles an hour enormously. Clifford Turner, 82-AL. is the type of Car we should like to get hold of because we believe it to be a good example of a difficult case. At the present time we have in mind several ideas which we hope will help with the pitching trouble at high speeds. After we have gained further experience we will write fully on the subject, and we hope later that N. will be able to deal satisfactorily with any complaint. In the meantime we should like to get to W. any Cars which we know have unsatisfactory springing. Ha. | ||
