PHANTOM II. CONTINENTAL TOURING SALOON.

Thanks for yours C7/EDL/16.1.31.

We have received the Speedometer and returned this to Lillie Hall (JLM). for Tuesday, as requested.

Our calibration of this speedometer confirms our report EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}5/H15.12.30. and EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}13/H15.1/31. We are quite satisfied that the performance of the Production Continental Touring models reported on compare favourably with 26-EX. The difference is entirely a question of speedometer reading, 26-EX being particularly high and has the characteristic of increasing its "percentage high" as the speed increases, as reported in our comparative car tests

We have noted your remarks re body weights and customers' requirements which while we fully appreciate, we are anxious that a definite control must be made on these matters in launching this model, otherwise the question of its special characteristics will soon be lost. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} was quite emphatic on these points - how far does he wish us to go?
