SKINNER, M.I.A.E MANAGING DIRECTOR BORDESLEY GREEN ROAD, ADDERLEY PARK, BIRMINGHAM, 8. YOUR REF Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}1/W OUR REF RLK/NK. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited. DERBY. 1st November 1937. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of the 30th ult. We think that probably the suggestion of using a rectangular trunnion is probably the best method of modifying the stroke. We shall however, have to tighten up the limits on the length of the cores and therefore this could only come in after our existing stock has been used. We doubt whether it is possible to put a flexible wire on the large coil. We originally eliminated this because the junction always causes a hump and the coil is a pretty close fit in the housing already. Would it not be best to put through a complete high pressure pump with square trunnion, solid wire, our standard terminal, modified flange and step position. As regards the partial plating of the unions, as you know we do not do any plating here at all. The firm who have undertaken our plating apparently were not keen on doing partial plating, but at your special request we will get in touch with them again and explain what you wish done. Yours faithfully, For THE S.U. CARBURETTER CO. LTD. P.S. If you wish us to put through the above pump, will you please let us have two coil housings to the latest drawing. | ||
