RE FAILURE OF P & R CELL IN SX BATTERY (159)

One P & R cell has failed in this battery (cell No.4) after having run 13,787 miles and been on our bench life test 9 months. The cause of failure was due to the stretching of the positive plates allowing sediment to accumulate on the top of the separators.

The plates and separators were in good condition and the positive plates had lost very little paste.

This cell was replaced by a P & R.{Sir Henry Royce} cell from S4 battery.
