To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from BJ. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.3602 BJ14/H22.2.22. GOSHAWK - WHEELS AND TYRES. X.3599 X.3602 Mr. Royce, I think it might be of assistance:- Copy of Roy{Sir Henry Royce}2/AG17.2.22. "Arising out of our various conversations we beaded and straight sided tyres, we were checking over the weights of such rims at the Rudge-Whitworth works, Coventry, yesterday, and found a 32 X 4½ straight sided rim is no less than 11.5 lbs. heavier than the corresponding size in beaded edged i.e. 820 X 120. You will doubtless have noticed a letter through from R.yesterday provisionally agreeing standardisation of Rudge-Whitworth Wheels, and negotiations are now pending with this firm for :- (a) Early delivery of experimental sets, (b) For bulk supplies. and their figures will show a very marked saving over the Dunlop. The actual amount we will advise you later". Sgd. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} B.J. | ||
