Dear Sir,

Very many thanks for your letter of the 5th. inst., from which I gather that you are prepared to consider me for a vacancy you have in your dept. I also gather that, subject to a trial, you would be able to offer me quite definite prospects.

This being the case, I should very much like to accept your invitation, and come over to Derby on Wednesday afternoon. I propose to arrive at 4.45 pm., providing this time is convenient to you.

Yours Faithfully,

R H B Smith
