Lidsey} 3/MA1.2.32. ------------------ I am interested to note the information you give us concerning these new types of tread. We have made arrangements for one of their experts to examine the tyres fitted to Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 's car No. 58-GN every 1,000 miles in London, so that they may observe their wearing qualities, etc. Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} informs me that they are certainly very silent so far, but he has not yet had an opportunity of testing their non-skidding properties as the weather has not permitted during the short time they have been fitted. I am pleased to note that you will be able to give them facilities for examining the car during the 10,000 miles test. As regards 1923 models, as you say, it is rather difficult for us to give them any information at the present time, but of course we can bear this in mind a bit later on. We presume, however, they will introduce these treads at once for the present standard sizes; in fact I understood from one of their representatives recently that they were thinking very seriously of putting them straight into production, but I have heard nothing further since.
