x7840 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Re Weights - 40/50. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/E9.7.34 Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Dv. Hdv. Ex. F.v. I am in receipt of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}10/KW.5.7.34. I rather agree that, in view of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis, it is hardly worth while going to a lot of trouble and expense to reduce the weight of the Phantom, especially as I understand that to achieve any real results would mean design modifications and experimental work. If, as I understand, the Vulture box with synchromesh second weighs only 192 [struck through] 127 lbs. as against the box fitted to 28-EX, 220 lbs., I am wondering why we did not use the Vulture box which was in existence. I suppose there is some good reason for this but I should like to know what it was - as the Vulture was really a Phantom engine, the reason does not seem obvious to me.
