To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MH.{M. Huckerby}4.10.38.

We hand you herewith a Ph.III fan flange and blade set off Messrs. Ferodo's rig, one blade havingcracked. Will you please remove all the blades from the flange without in any way damaging them and hand them to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. who will have them etched and examined for other cracks.

Will you please also obtain either five fan blades to E.89255 or the necessary material for same from the Coventry Radiator Co. and modify them to the shape shown on drawing EXS.24136. Will you then build the flange up with these blades and hand to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.

It is important that we should have this new fan as soon as possible as the results will determine the action to be taken on fans for customers' complaints and for standard-isation.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.
