E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ✓ Er. Rg.{Mr Rowledge} WST81247: BY/NW{N. Walker - Patents}2/JN.24.2.36. Re Outside Patent Searches. We send herewith a list of applications which have recently become open for inspection. The Ford specification No.19808 consists of a " method of ascertaining the length of the spark gap between ignition distributor contact points comprising conducting current through the said points while rapidly making and breaking said current by means of the said points and measuring the amount of current passing through said points, said current being substantially inversely proportional to said gap" and apparatus which includes "means for rapidly rotating distributor cam, a current source, a milliameter and means for electrically connecting said source and contact points and milliameter in series so that said milliameter will read the average amount of current flowing through said points." Our Solicitors would like to know whether we would like photostat copies of any of these applications, or whether we would like them to have a look at them first, and give us a short note of what is the object of each of the inventions. Perhaps you will let us know if you think this necessary. To E's copy of this memo we attach four photostat copies of applications which have recently been filed, being:- No.8395 Aluminium Limited - Improvements in or relating to cast aluminium magnesium Alloys No.19808 Ford Motor Company - Internal Combustion Engine Cylinder Head No.20739 Electro Metallurgical Co. Process for making Alloys No.21558 Ernest Heinkel - Improvements in evaporative Cooling Systems for engines and other Machines, especially for aircraft Engines. BY/N.W. | ||
