(7) FUTURE WORK AND RECOMMENDATIONS. As opportunity arises the "close-centres" head will be returned to the bed to investigate the effect of increasing the carburetter choke size in proportion to the increase in inlet valve and port areas and to measure detonation at the 3000 r.p.m. timing. It is recommended that car heads be made and tested, duplicating as far as the patterns permit the dimensions of the single cylinderhead, one set being made for the standard compression ratio and another for 7.0/1 ratio. The exhaust valve diameter could be reduced to 1.35" without appreciably affecting the power and this would give a more practical size to the minimum dimension between the valve seats. It may be found necessary to modify the induction system in order to realise the potential improvement in power of the new heads. It is suggested that camshafts giving the standard and the 3000 r.p.m. timings should be made and compared. -------------------- HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WD{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}/CHP. | ||
