X5980 c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn5/H21.1.26. re. Overoiling - 20-HP. Cars. We had not thought it necessary to circularise the Depots in regard to overoiling on 20-HP. cars, but we are informed by the Repair Dept. that there have been a considerable number of complaints from owners of 20-HP cars of this trouble, and new type piston rings have had to be fitted. In view of this, therefore, there appears to be no alternative but to send the Depots a supply of new type piston rings. We shall be glad to know if you agree to this, and if so if you will instruct the Works to prepare piston rings to be sent to the Depots to enable them to deal with this complaint when it arises.
