(3) Driving in Fog.
We did not have the opportunity of trying the P.III in fog, but from our experience we should say there would be no comparison between this arrangement, and a properly adjusted centre fog lamp as at present fitted. In the past, we have had a number of attempts to get a light which might be used for passing other vehicles, and, at the same time, be utilised for driving in fog. We have always found that the fog light has to be concentrated so near the nearside front wheel of a car that it is quite useless for driving at anything above 30 m.p.h.

It will thus be seen that if we are to accept the arrangement on this car, we are definitely going to sacrifice efficiency.

By/RD. has suggested that if we use a centre lamp with a dipping reflector, of which he has a sample, it may be possible largely to overcome the fog criticisms, and if this is so, then the driving light remains the only score for criticism. Personally, until this point is cleared up, we would rather that the small percentage of customers who go abroad should have to make the small adjustment recommended by Waller, for altering their dipping arrangements, than that all customers in England should have less satisfactory lighting equipment than our present standard.
