Rml/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 102 / 21st July, 1938. N.H. Manning, Esq., Messrs. Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd., Chequers Lane, DAGENHAM. Dear Manning, We enjoyed our day at Dagenham, and are very indebted to you for running us back to St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Albans. The result of yesterday's visit as we see it is that you agree with the general dimensions of our programme for the 4 light bodies and are going into the question of detail to indicate what we could, or could not have about the bodies as shown to fall in with your die requirements. At the same time, you are going to get some estimated cost figures out for the tools necessary. The two points about which I particularly would like to have information are:- (1) Why you are unable to make our petrol tank in a thinner gauge. (2) All the available information on the latest type of American engine mountings, and your own views on how you would like us to hold your typical body to the frame. I am sending you a scheme showing our existing body mountings. The Works will be closed for the next ten days, but I hope one of your people will come up to discuss the body project as soon as we re-open. Yours sincerely, | ||
