Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JED.S/JH.6.7.39. Petrol Pumps - Neoprene Diaphragms. We are replacing the O.S. oil silk diaphragm by Neoprene fabric. 2 layers of .030" Neoprene for the 25/30 & Bentley. 2 layers of .030" Neoprene for the High Pressure Pumps. Pumps so fitted should be marked NC replacing O.S.S.O. In the case of all existing pumps it is necessary to fit a packing ring between the Neoprene and the coil housing. This is supplied with the diaphragm assembly to give greater clearance for the roller. This will not apply to the High Pressure pump with the cast iron coil housing which will replace the steel housing now in use, allowance having been made in the depth of the roller race to give the added clearance that the Neoprene diaphragm requires.
