Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd.,
Derby.

Gentlemen,

For the attention of Mr. H.E. West-Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst./AP.

We beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of April 16th and in reply would inform you that an answer to your communication of April 6th was despatched to you on the 7th.

With regard to your letter of March 31st ref. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst. 6/AP, we would advise you that we have now decided to use a nickel alloy known as W.5 in place of Mangonic which was used originally for earth points. Our experiments have shown that W.5 material gives less erosion.

We quite appreciate that point erosion is a serious matter with these plugs and you may rely on our continuing experiments to see whether we cannot improve things still further.

With reference to our letter of February 4th in which we undertook to make up a sample to your requirements, we wish to confirm the Writer's conversation on the telephone with Mr. West when he explained the difficulty that we have found and agreed to discuss the matter in detail when the Writer visits Derby on Wednesday.

Yours faithfully,
p.p. K.L.G. SPARKING PLUGS LIMITED.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} Carington

Director.
