X4333 To R & E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from EFC. EFC2/T13.11.23. c. CJ. & PN.{Mr Northey} c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X.4333 - GOSHAWK DYNAMO BRUSH GEAR. A comparative test of the running of the Goshawk brush gear in the original condition with brushes unbevelled and commutator not specially undercut, and in the later condition with brushes bevelled and commutator specially undercut, is now completed, and the results of this test are contained in my assistant's report, copy of which is attached. As previously stated the test consists partly of continuous running and partly of intermittent running. This test has proved that a definite improve-ment exists in the second case, as compared with the first, particularly in the amount of wear of the positive brush and the condition of its working surface. A further test is now proceeding, the only alteration from new standard being heavier brush spring pressure. EFC. AB.92. att. | ||
