PRIVATE W/K - C1. x206 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/KW.14.12.34. Thank you for your note regarding Chassis No. B-11-AE, Mrs. Smith Bingham. We have examined the parts. We should like to know whether from your records this car appears to have had any sort of bump on the front axle prior to this failure. We recollect that you told us you had the bolts holding the worm cage stretch on one or two cars. Have you examined the steering of this car to see if there is any sign of similar trouble? We should also like to know whether Mrs. Smith Bingham has at any time complained of front brake jaggers. This is the first failure of this sort we have ever seen or heard of and we are therefore anxious to get all the data available.
