Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
Derby.

For the attention of Mr. West.

Dear Sirs,

Confirming the writer's telephone conversation with Mr. West this morning, we are extremely obliged to you that we can send a Technical Representative up to compare our testing arrangements with yours. We naturally wish to do our utmost to produce instruments exactly as you want them, and the writer feels that a common basis of testing, or at least exact knowledge as to how such tests are carried out by both firms, would be valuable.

We propose, therefore, to produce the speedometer G.227, to your esteemed order 49914, and, as this is urgent, to rectify it immediately it comes to hand, and return it to you, but the Rev-Clock and Speedometer G.382, we propose to carefully check over here, adjust to your new requirements, as shown on the order, and send Mr. Arrowsmith up with these instruments for test comparisons.

If these instruments come in before this week-end, the writer suggests that Mr. Arrowsmith will come up on Thursday next, the 20th inst., catching the 8.25 a.m. train, unless we hear that this is inconvenient to you.

Also, with reference to your favour of the 13th inst., with copies of reports upon the 2 DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}87 Speedometers, which you have adjusted at Derby, we presume that the figures given are before adjustment by you? If this is so, then the complaint is that the progressive introduction of the 5% fast at 60 is not properly carried out? In any case, we are instructing Mr.
