PHANTOM III. STANDARDISATION of PARTS
Description of Parts. TINMAN'S HEADED SOLID COPPER RIVETS FOR FIXING FERODO TO BRAKE SHOES.
Origin. To prevent failures occurring and to reduce wear of brake drums.
Report of Experimental Test.
Several failures of the contact type brass rivets have occurred, and scoring of the drums due to them is quite a serious complaint.
Countersunk copper rivets have been used on Ph .II 20/25 HP. and Bentley cars and are now running on 35-EX, 34-EX and 30-EX. No increase of sponginess of the brake system is noticeable when they are used.
