Dear Sirs, SUBJECT: SPECIALLOID PISTONS. In reply to your letter of the 24th September, we have much pleasure in enclosing herewith a copy of our drawing reference number R.88 showing our piston design interchangeable with the piston shown on your print reference E.B.1025. To complete our drawing it was necessary to assume certain details as these were not indicated on your blue-print and we should be pleased if you would confirm the following points:- 1). The correct distance between bosses. 1.365" 2). We should like a print of your gudgeon pin. 3). That the nominal bore diameter is 3¼". We should also like to know the grinding limits. +.001 We have included the essential machining limits on our drawing and you will observe in the majority of cases we have restricted our machining operations to the minimum practical tolerance. The clearances which we have superimposed on our print are of course subject to actual bench and road test, and so as to arrive at the correct allowance we shall be pleased to arrange for our Chief Engineer to [Handwritten note in left margin] R.M.
