c Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} j 1376 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}C/MH.{M. Huckerby} 3rd. February, 1939. Messrs. Cornercroft Ltd., Ace Works, Queen Victoria Road, COVENTRY. For the attention of Mr. Rycroft. Dear Sirs, We are sending back, marked for your attention, the five discs which you made to suit our 16" Bentley wire wheel. The reason we are doing this, is that we do not like the small sharp lip that exists on the edge of the disc and which will cause line contact against the wheel. We should be glad if you could somehow arrange for the curvature at this point to be zero or slightly in the other direction, even if this means subsequently re-prating the discs. You may notice that rubber has been put on these discs but in the wrong place, and this will be corrected when we get them back from you. We hope your findings on the various ways of fitting discs to wire wheels are nearly complete because we shall shortly be making a decision on what type we shall ultimately use. We have received sample cover for pressed steel wheel for which we thank you, and which is receiving consideration alongside the alternative suggestions we have put forward ourselves. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
