RE. SAMPLE SPANNERS TO LEC.No.1645. X1027

Referring to the above, kindly note the sample has been inspected by Mr. Royce, who considers that they are very nice, but too thick in the jaw and in the handle. He is of the opinion that too much metal has been put in the dies during the operation of drop forging, resulting in the dies not closing. We have measured up the thickness of the jaws and they appear to be as follows:-

(1) SPANNER SIZE. (2) OUR SIZE. (3) THICKNESS OF METAL.
1/2" .3 .415
7/16" .25 .365
3/8" .225 .303
5/16" .2 .295
1/4" .175 .218
1.BA. .150 .206
2.BA. .125 .190
3.BA. .170
5.BA. .170

[Circular Stamp Text: RECEIVED JAN 19 1932]

We should be glad if you would have the model spanners reduced in thickness to the correct size and returned to us so that we can make sure that Mr. Royce approves of the spanners when they are at their correct thickness.

We return the samples herewith.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
