40/50 - FOUR WHEEL BRAKES. X.9940.

It appears to be desirable to improve the
compensation on the front brakes as much as possible.

We think that the bearing for the cross shafts
on the front axle would be improved if arranged as shewn
on N.sch.1731 herewith. The difference consists in
removing the double friction from the long flexible shaft,
and adding it to the short stiff shaft.

On the same drawing we shew an alternative in
which an entirely independent bearing is provided for
each shaft which might prove to be still better if we
were found practical to line up all 4 bearings in this way.
