To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} CK.{Mr Clark} X.3586 ORIGINAL RE Goshawk WATER INLET PIPES AND CONNECTIONS. We send you herewith drawing No. 1196 shewing the above. You will notice that the pipe has been taken on the delivery side of the pump to the rear block of cylinders. The rear block has then been connected to the front block of cylinders by means of a small rubber ring union at the bottom of the jackets. It is not thought that this union will have to deal with the whole of the cooling water passing from the rear cylinders to the front, but that some of this may take place with the help of natural convection currents through the two large unions at the top of the castings. The chief duty therefore of the bottom union is to allow the engine to be drained. We hope to send you by the next post a scheme shewing the connection on the suction side of the pump.
