X4117. To C. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/ADL 2.4.32. 49-CL. - C.J.Booth. With reference to C8/Cl1.4.32, I tried 49-CL in New York. I formed the opinion that this was up to the general standard of Phantom I cars. I understood that his chief complaint was of roughness in picking up from very low speeds. There is no doubt that the Phantom I compares unfavourably with the Cadillac 12-cylinder and 16-cylinder in this respect and it is impossible to argue to the contrary.
