| (M). Lubrication continued:- Details (spring shackles) by portable grease injector with rapid connectors. The oil consumption on this chassis is remarkably low (the engine running 1000 miles to the gallon). This is due to the care given to the oil retaining in the design of the bearings and oil joints about the whole chassis, and to the design of the pistons which are extremely good for not allowing oil to work up into the combustion chambers. (N). PEDALS. The pedals have long strokes to permit of light operation, and avoid frequent adjustments of the operated parts. They are fitted in 2 positions, corresponding to the 2 positions of steering column. So that the pedals can be conveniently placed the steering column passes through the dash high up, the brake pedal being in the centre. Owing to the choice of location of the centre of the long pedal levers, the motion of the foot is extremely comfortable and effective. The clutch and brake pedals are fitted with rubber surfaces. (O). INSTRUMENT BOARD. Is carried from the dash by brackets in 2 standard positions, corresponding to the 2 positions of the steering column. It is fitted with the following (reading from the left.):- 1. Clock 2. Chassis No. plate. 3. Speed Indicator. 4. Thermometer Gauge. 5. Radiator Shutter Control. 6. Mixture control & starting carburetter lever. 7. Ammeter. 8. Oil pressure gauge. 9. Dashboard light. 10. Switchbox. These fittings form part of the standard equipment of the chassis with the exception of Nos. 1 & 3. With regard to these latter it is to the advantage of owners to have the models recommended by the RR. Co. as they have been well tested, and owing to the ease of fitting, better value cannot be obtained. | ||
