-4- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/MH.{M. Huckerby}11.1.39. B.60 NO.1 UNIT - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} As soon as possible we want to try oil jets on underside of pistons. JNR{Charles L. Jenner}/Mitchell is getting the information for this trial which will be carried out on "bump" pistons condition (a). WRAITH III NO.4. Continue with investigation of light and heavy camwheel and std. dyno coupling against Metalastik. Try with best combination for rattle and oscillation over speed range. Fit high compression pistons ex Wraith III No.1 (7.1 : 1 Comp. ratio) and again check for rattle as 8.B.V, which has high comp. ratio, has a complaint of rattle. Check effect of ignition advance on rattle. If rattle comes up we will investigate the possibility of allowing spring drive more movement. Though not complete, we would like report and curves as soon as possible. NO.2 TEST HOUSE. B.II NO.4 UNIT. Check for Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} the following:- (1) Max. power in existing condition at 4000 R.P.M. (2) Repeat in 3rd. gear at same engine speed, 4000 R.P.M., give dyno R.P.M. (3) Repeat in 2nd. gear. Remove existing cylinder block and pistons. Replace by cylinder block with short inserts and new standard pistons. Check oil consumption over 2 hrs. at 4000 r.p.m. and repeat until stable figure is reached. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
