We have run over 100,000 miles with 40/50 cars in France this year. Wear on the steering nuts has not been a trouble. One steering nut has been changed after it had run 20,000 miles. We know that the cars we have run have been regularly and efficiently lubricated. We should say that most probably the cause of the exceptional wear on the steering nut is due to lack of lubrication. It is admitted that the lubrication on the 40/50 is not as good as it might be. On the EAC. arrangement the steering has been entirely re-designed in order that the steering box can be made oil-tight so that it can be filled up with oil and the nut and worm will be submerged in it. oil Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
