BIRMINGHAM.

Dear Mr Skinner,

With further reference to the question of the S.U. carburetter we are proposing to use in conjunction with the Bentley car, we now enclose blueprints LeC.3190 and LeC.3208.

The former is the drawing we showed you during your visit, but with the modification to the lower portion of the air passage that you suggest would be beneficial.

The latter drawing shows the way in which we actually propose to build up the first experimental carburetters, so that the shape of the bottom portion of the air passage can be readily modified.

With further reference to LeC.3190, the air feed hole for the underside of the piston should be communicated to the enclosed air passage, where shown in pencil on the top right-hand view.

We have not made any provision at the moment for a throttle stop, but this will be added in conjunction with the scheme for the engine controls.

We are going ahead with the details and pattern work for the castings for the portions composing the body of the carburetter, and as agreed during your visit we shall supply you with the necessary castings for building up the experimental instruments. Yours faithfully,

For and on behalf of ROLLS-ROYCE LTD
