| To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X223 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KW.10.5.35 . 3-B-IV. The exhaust system on this car was altered from standard in order to allow the Girling brakes to be fitted. It is very noisy and is spoiling the impression given by the supercharged unit. Will you please build an exhaust system for this car similar to the one at present fitted on 1-B-IV, a sketch of which we attach. Tests in France have shown that the front downtake pipe will not stand up in mild steel if it is lagged. It will therefore have to be made in Staybrite. If Staybrite tube is difficult to obtain in the size we require, we should like to know what sizes are available and we could modify our specification to accommodate. Will you also please fit the standard rear rubber engine mounting and propellor shaft damper to this car.
