Re. Special Spanners for hubs on wire wheels
Reference: EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}8/W6313.

To confirm consultation with you to the effect that it is not practical to dismantle these hubs, especially the front ones, unless a special box key is used.
I think it very necessary, therefore, that we supply one of these with spares, as we distinctly draw the attention of our customers in our Instruction Book to the importance of dismantling the hubs and occasionally cleaning same.
At the same time these extra spanners create a lot of extra weight and I think it would be advisable to arrange the point as suggested by you, and which Mr. Spinney thinks quite practical, i.e. certain tools in spares which are now supplied should be boxed up apart from the ordinary spares and the customer advised that these should not be taken with the car but left at the garage.
