re Gearbox Patents.

We understand that the Hillman Co. have paid a royalty on the design of the first and reverse gears of the Minx to the Alvis Co. until the advent of the 1939 Model.

After Jnr{Charles L. Jenner}'s. discussion with you this morning we understand that prior to 1939 the Minx had a synchromesh first speed and the reverse gear behind the box, so to speak. On the 1939 model, the 1st. speed is not synchromesh.

We are anxious to know exactly what is the Alvis Patent, as such an arrangement would be of interest for the Myth Gear-box.

We would be glad if you would arrange to let us have your file of gearbox patents, or alternatively make a search for the patent in question. The matter is rather urgent as we are wanting to take up work on the Myth gearbox almost immediately.
