S/W. (Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) Y293 Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}14/I/31-3-33. W BENTLEY 'B'. We understand there has been criticism of the illumination afforded by the headlights on some of the experimental Bentley 'B' cars. Consequently, for the further Saloon now in hand at Messrs. Park Ward & Co's Works we endeavoured to obtain from Messrs. Lucas an advance pair of P80 lamps having dipping reflectors, but were unsuccessful. We have, however, managed to obtain from them an experimental pair of P100 lamps with dipping reflectors which we shall send up to you with the body. We should now like to know whether you think the head-lamps sent up with the Open body are likely to be satisfactory. If not, you had better return them to Lillie Hall and we will endeavour to replace them with more powerful lamps, although we would like to make it clear now that there is no hope of obtaining, for possibly a couple of months at least, any more P100 lamps with dipping reflectors.
