Instructions for dismantling and inspecting a car after a 20,000-mile test in France.

35-EX.

We are sending this car into the Shop for examination after 20,000 miles in France. Will you please dismantle for inspection the following parts:-

(1) Engine Unit complete. Will you please provide us with figures for the cylinder wear, piston wear, increase in closed gap of the piston rings, wear on the sides of the rings and the increase in ring groove width.

(2) Gearbox and Servo.

(3) Rear axle for inspection of the half shafts and differential washers. Will you please also measure the nip on the pinion thrust bearing.

(4) Propeller shaft. We should like to examine the sliding joint and also the pins in the universal joints for fracture such as on the Nairobi car.

(5) Complete front suspension mechanism with particular reference to the bottom yoke bearings.
Front damper valve chambers to be handed to W.Bell.
Please also report on the bijur pipe coils in the main fulcrum pins.

(6) Rear Springs. We should like a figure for the wear in the rear shackles.

(7) Mild Steel front engine feet.

(8) The thrust stays between the gearbox and engine, and between the engine and cross.

(9) Petrol Pumps. Please hand to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}

(10) Examine joints of petrol gauge unit in tank.
