For the attention of Mr. Harker.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to our visit to your Works yesterday, we did not get an opportunity of discussing the question of "No.6" faced 10" clutches in any detail.

The position is that we have now run an extended test of such a clutch and have confirmed our previous experience that the fabric is exceedingly good from the point of view of take up. The test has consisted of three week's endurance running in London traffic, followed by tests on Brooklands hill.

During this latter test, however, the top ply of one of the facings has sheared off round the inner radius.

We have taken the matter up with Mr. Longley of Ferodo. He thinks that the facings were ground too far, leaving the top ply very thin. We understand that they have recently delivered to you 18 facings, and that these probably suffer from the same deffect.

Will you please, therefore, return these to Ferodo for replacment, by 12 facings in "No.6" material, and 6 in S.6424 with improved grinding. The latter material is an experimental frabric of stronger texture.
