Principal Quantities.

No. of armature conductors = 464

Armature resis. at 100°C = .384 ohm.

Field resistance at 80°C = 3.04 ohms.

Cutting in point. = 13.6 volts.

Field turns = 133

Field amperes = 4.47 (at cut-in)

" ampere-turns = 595

Useful flux produced by these ampere turns. = 240,000 (say)

Armature E.M.F. = 13.6 + 1.8

= 15.4

Hot cutting-in speed as shunt machine
= N = (60 x 10^8 x b x E) / (Ø Z p)

= (60 x 10^8 x 2 x 15.4) / (240,000 x 464 x 4) = 415.
