X.4333 - GOSHAWK DYNAMO BRUSHES

We have a complaint to make with regard to the pigtail connections to the brushes on the three dozen Le Carbone grade O (marked Z) brushes ordered to print D.50301, as requested in our EFC2/T18.2.22.

We find that in many instances the connection of the pigtail to the brush is faulty inasmuch as a number of these pigtails have parted from the brush under quite a small tension which one could reasonably expect the connection to stand, in fact we can almost say that a number of these have parted irrespective of any applied tension.

The fault appears to be due to the fact that the pigtail ends have not been properly tinned so that the woldered connection has not taken. Mr. Leach should note that this fault is probably existent on the 21 brushes of this make which he drew from the Stores, we having discovered it on the remaining 15.

These brushes should therefore be inspected and made O.K. in this respect, and a complaint should certainly be lodged with the Le Carbone Company to this effect (sample herewith) which should take effect on the further order for Le Carbone brushes which we have recently placed.
