W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

Answering your letter of 14th March, we have now gone into the question of India Real Low Pressure Tyres for the Colonial Bentley.

We have measured these tyres at the pressure which we think would be most suitable and underloads of 900 lbs. and 1200 lbs. We used the figures 1200 and 900 as we calculated from figures which you supplied us some time ago that this would be the load on the rear and front tyres on the Bentley when the car was fully loaded.

We attach herewith the dimensions for the 6.00/16, 6.50/16 Aero Cushion Tyres and 5.50/18 Speed Special Tyre.

We believe that six ply Aero Cushion Tyres would be most suitable and we feel that the 6.00/16 would be quite capable of carrying the load and, of course, would be lighter than the 6.50/16. However, there is a considerable decrease in the Effective Radius from the 5.50/18 Speed Special and this may be an objection against fitting the 6.00/16 in view of the fact that you wish to increase the road clearance.
