re PHANTOM CHASSIS 'E' STEERING.

With reference to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}11/M19.7.28. we have arranged for the length of 'E' type column to be the same as 'D' type, which we are introducing on G.2B series.

The 'D' type column which we are introducing on G.2B series is somewhat shorter than the present standard, and is what you have already agreed to.

In regard to the pedals, these are being modified for 'E' steering, that is the brake pedal is being moved out a distance of .500 further than what was intended for 'D' steering, and the accelerator pedal is being moved out a distance of .750.

WW. have suggested that we make this alteration to 'D' type pedals, and we will arrange to do this for 'H' series if the new column etc. are approved in time. Since material for G.2B series is already well in hand the pedals will be fitted in the new positions for 'E' type steerings only.

In view of this therefore when 'E' type steering is ordered for a chassis out of G.2B series then we shall have to arrange for the pedals to be in the modified positions.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} steering with modified pedals will be fitted on chassis 12-EX.
