STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS Ref. No. X /147 Date: 12.1.24 Description of Part: 'LIQUALL' PETROL FILLER. 80 and 90 H.P. CHASSIS. Object: To replace the petrol funnel. Reason for Report: Experimental Report No. The filler has advantages at the present time, if price is satisfactory. It may be stowed in a box on the footboard. The petrol can is mounted on its end by the person holding the funnel and by these means facilitates filling. Used for qtrly: Used for half yrly: Used for several months W's old Part No. Cod No. On Part: DE 3 Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} remarks :- I agree to this type of filler being used, but the "W" Liquall I use has all the faults enumerated by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A union to connect to tin would be an improvement. I do not object to flexible hose myself but think the filler should not be used for opening cans. REMARKS | DATE | SIGNATURES E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} remarks :- I agree to some form of easy filler in place of a funnel, but not this one having a flexible hose. The hose often leaks to begin with and gets worse as time goes on. It also gets damaged or actually torn off in opening petrol tins with the fitting provided. Another point is that the whole of the fitting is rotated in screwing it on to the petrol tin, tearing up the joint washer in time. There is a neat solid snout union nut filler on the market. Could we not try this with perhaps a filter in to collect the water? | 28.1.24 | MR. JOHNSON Agreed | 28.1.24 | MR. BAILEY Agreed subject to my remarks | 28.1.24 | MR.
