| To HFS. from Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /APM. c. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Rys. bob Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /APM.6/MR.29.11.37. WRAITH BRAKES - SQUEAKS. We have been trying the effect on Wraith of cutting a hole in the brake shoes. At the moment it seems that this hole reduces squeaks quite considerably. Since it is so much cheaper than a tipping shoes, we want to try it in France on 20.G.VI. We do not want the production of the brakes with tipping shoes held up on this account as we may have to fall back on them. We have given HSC. a print with the size and position of the hole marked on it. On 26.G.VI it is only applied to the front brakes. On 25.G.VI a similar hole has been out in the front shoes only. On 28.G.VI we have cut this hole in the front shoes, and the rear shoes have also been weakened but we have not finished with them yet. Will you please make a note of this in the specifications.
