contd:- -2-

We shall be able to get the engine running
again without much difficulty and shall continue the
tests.

The B.M.E.P. of the Marmon is rather dis-
appointing - the peak of the curve is approximately the
same as Goshawk -11 - it falls away rapidly both at the
higher and lower speeds.

The object of trying the different valve
timings was to see whether we could maintain the torque
at the lower speeds.

We may be better off as regards distribution
with the arrangement of ports on the E.A.C. compared
with the Marmon because of having single inlet ports
at the end of the pipe - we may be able to correct
for a single inlet at the end but it would be more
difficult with a pair.
