Tachbrook Road,
Leamington Spa,

For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

We understood on the occasion of our last visit to your Works that the particulars of the Long clutch which you were expecting from U.S.A. are now to hand. We should be very glad for some information on the semi-centrifugal clutch if you are in a position to give it, viz:-

(1) At the engine speed for max. torque, what proportion of the total thrust is provided by the centrifugal loading ?

(2) What working value of /u is taken at max. torque ? Is this higher than would be taken for an ordinary clutch ?

We should appreciate a curve showing the thrust characteristics of the clutch superimposed on the power curve of the engine in a typical example, if you have information available.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
