RE REAR TANK - 40/50 H.P.

We hope to send you a print of the drawing of the rear tank, the design of which we are proposing you should follow. We have not attempted to alter the pattern of the filler but have given you what we think a lighter construction owing to there being less cast brass about it. We have also improved the proportions of the screw-down cover.

We have not attempted a double level or any complication which may lead to unreliability, but have made you a much smaller and lighter arrangement of fittings, filter, etc. and by the use of a supplementary light steel plate with sheet brass reinforcements have arranged that you can have an effective hand hole in case it is necessary to work inside the tank, this hand hole being screwed up and soldered air tight for general use.

You will also see that the filter is arranged in quite an improved way so as to use its whole surface and yet take nearly all the petrol out of the tank. The whole arrangement is much neater and lighter than that shown on your drawing, and we hope you will be pleased with the designs. The cost too, should be less.

You will remember that I noticed that you seemed handicapped in obtaining light brass castings, probably because of the more usual arrangement of paying for these by weight instead of so much each.
