Modifications for the Phantom II vehicle and discussions regarding the 'R' engines for a motor boat.

-2- The Phantom 11 would then be returned to Derby to carry out the necessary modifications. These modifications would consist of :- (1) Low inertia crankshaft damper. (2) Modification to brake leverage. (3) Frictional type shock absorbers, all round. Either AFA or Hartford. (4) Stiffer rating springs. (5) Modification to petrol supply to ensure that it is adequate at continuous high speeds. (6) Exhaust heated throttle. "R" ENGINES FOR MOTOR BOAT. The question was raised that arrangements should be made to have a spare engine available for the motor boat. It was suggested that the engine which the Ministry are going to loan us for development tests, should after those tests be put into first class condition and be available for spare. The Air Ministry sanction will have to be obtained for this. Sir Henry Segrave pointed out that he was not committed to use any oil, petrol, or accessories from any special firm. On conditions, however, that we agreed he would like preference being given to :- (1) Wakefield's oil. (2) B.P. Petrol. (3) K.L.G. Plugs. It was agreed that we should test these parts and let Sir Henry Segrave know the result. | ||
