X4199 To Ps. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG29.3.28. X249. We are all very upset about poor Butlers death. We are also concerned as regards the cause of the accident. Knowing how CWB. drives, my own personal impression of the accident is that he had not allowed himself sufficient time to catch the boat and that it was necessary for him to maintain a high average speed in order to get there in time. We expect, of course, the car to be driven fast, but it is a very different thing when one drives fast because conditions allow it compared with when one is obliged to drive fast. I should be glad if you could let me know what time the car left Paris, and what boat it was arranged the car should cross over by.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
