VISCOSITY. It may be well to remind you, in considering the results shown o n this table, that the higher the original viscosity of an oil at normal temperatures the greater its loss as the temperature is raised. While, therefore, constancy in viscosity at progressive temperatures would be a valuable feature in an oil it is unattainable in practice and when it is desirable to find an which say at 212° retains a good working viscosity it is necessary to adopt an oil which at normal temperatures may be inconveniently viscous. | ||
