EXPERIMENTAL KESTREL XVII.
Proof test of No. 18 Piston.

1. OBJECT.
To proof test a No. 18 type Piston.

2. RESULTS.
The piston was stripped for examination after 30 hours running.
It was found to be in good condition with the exception of the skirt which was badly scored on the non-thrust face.

3. CONCLUSIONS.
The scoring on the skirt is considered to be caused by slight distortion of the piston under load and picking up of the aluminium alloy on the hardened steel cylinder liner.
